Nigerian-born Victor Boniface pounced on a rebound to seal Bayer Leverkusen’s win against AC Milan in the Champions League at the BayArena late Tuesday.

Boniface struck in the 51st minute after Jeremie Frimpong’s attempt was denied by Milan goalkeeper, Mike Maignan.

Grimaldo was part of the build-up to the goal after he gave a back-heel pass to Frimpong.

Earlier, Boniface was denied a goal in the 21st minute when the Video Assistant Referee caught Frimpong in an offside position.

Tammy Abraham’s appeal for a penalty was turned down as the referee waved play on.

Reijnders registered a superb attempt at goal but Leverkusen’s goalie Hradecky made a brilliant save to savour his team’s lead.

The home side has won its two games in the tournament after it earned a 4-0 win against Feyenoord.

However, Paulo Fonseca’s Milan lost 3-1 to Liverpool two weeks ago at the San Siro.
