Spanish giants Barcelona had a superb night after a 5-0 win against Young Boys in their Champions League encounter Tuesday.
Robert Lewandowski registered a brace, while Raphinha and Inigo Martinez each had a goal. An own goal by Mohamed Camara sealed the win for the Catalans at the Estadi Olimpic Lluis Companys.
Hansi Flick’s charges returned to winning ways after a disappointing 2-1 defeat to Monaco.
The home side made a link-up play between Lamine Yamal who gave the pass to Raphinha. The Brazilian then pulled a cross in for Lewandowski who couldn’t resist putting his name on the score sheet in the 8th minute.
Raphinha doubled the lead after a rebound from Pedri’s blocked shot before Martinez made it 3-0 before half-time.
Both Yamal and Pedri, products of the famous La Masia academy, proved difficult for the Swiss champions to hold up.
The home side was in their best form again in the second half after a ‘head’ connection. Martinez nodded the ball back to Lewandowski to set up the Pole’s second goal and fourth for the Catalans.
Young Boys suffered their second straight defeat in the tournament. They had lost 3-0 to English side, Aston Villa, on their home soil in Switzerland.
So far they have conceded eight goals in the Champions League.
