After Makro gave away about 200 000 Makro vouchers worth over R7 million in one weekend, the E-Waste Recycling Authority (ERA) decided to suspend the “The Future Started Yesterday” initiative, citing crowd control issues.

The campaign, which rewards customers with vouchers of up to R600 per person per day, was scheduled to run on the weekend of 14 and 15 October and again on 21 and 22 October, but it has been halted abruptly, cutting the campaign to two days instead of four.
