Apply by 12 February 2024.

UNESCO opens doors for media development initiatives! The International Programme for the Development of Communication (IPDC) is calling for project proposals in 2024, offering organizations a chance to secure support for their endeavors. The submission deadline is February 12, 2024. Key considerations include leveraging UNESCO resources, addressing gender-related challenges, and incorporating innovative approaches.

Project budgets should fall within USD 10,000 to USD 35,000.

Each country is invited to submit one national project, with exceptions for specific regions.

How to apply

  1. Application Forms: The call includes two essential application forms – one for candidate organizations and another for project proposals. Ensure to review and complete both forms available in English and French.
  2. Supporting Documents: Attached to the call are an Excel budget template file and an FAQ sheet, providing comprehensive guidance for a successful application.
  3. Key Considerations: Project proposals are encouraged to leverage UNESCO resources, particularly journalism education handbooks. Addressing gender-related challenges and incorporating innovative approaches is highly encouraged.
  4. Budget Range: Projects should fall within a budget range of USD 10,000 to USD 35,000.

Important guidelines

Each country is invited to submit one national project, with exceptions for Least Developed Countries, Small Island Developing States, and countries in conflict situations.

  1. Regional projects are limited to a maximum of two per cluster office and four per regional office (Nairobi and Montevideo).
  2. UNESCO Field Offices will select and submit only the most promising proposals to the IPDC Secretariat.
  3. We strongly encourage project proposals to consider the adaptation/use of UNESCO resources such as UNESCO’s journalism education handbooks.
  4. Gender-transformative projects that aim to tackle inequality are strongly recommended, with all proposals required to be at least gender-sensitive.

Interested candidates are requested to submit all documents to beirut@unesco.org  cc: g.awad@unesco.org
