Understanding Purpose || Isioma Jane Okpali

Can you imagine waking up in an extremely dark room with no candle or any source of light at all? That’s exactly how a life with no sense of purpose feels like.

Before I tell you why it’s important to understand your purpose in life, I want to tell you what will happen in your life in its absence. Like a dark room, you’ll have a hard time locating a thing inside the room. And of course, the absence of light will make it difficult for anyone to do any task.

I view that a defined purpose in life serves as a light in our lives and without light, you’ll find it difficult to enjoy living.

What is purpose?
Purpose is the original intent in the mind of the creator or manufacturer that motivated him to create a particular item, hence any product is created to serve a given purpose just as we are. So until that product serves its purpose of creation, it will be classified as not adding value.

It is essential that you discover and understand why you’re here on earth, so that you can experience an effective, full and rewarding life, because without a purpose, life will be like an experiment that results in frustration, disappointment and failure.

A friend once told me that she doesn’t know her purpose and only living to survive. I sensed the sadness from her tone. Same way many persons don’t even know why God brought them here to do. To some, life is just a cycle of being born, acquiring degrees, getting a job, having a family and hustling till death calls. Your life is so much more than that, so it’s about time you return to your manufacturer to know your purpose, so you can live a fulfilled life.

Understanding yourself on a deeper level is very important. It’ll help you discover your hidden talents and outstanding characteristics which will in turn, give you the confidence to pursue and make a significant impact in your world. There are persons called to serve humanity, to life the downtrodden and some make great changes anywhere they find themselves. Yours is something worth discovering too.

You must be aware that purpose isn’t something you wake up and jump into, instead it is a process you discover and gradually work to fulfill. It’s might take you some time and you may feel discouraged in your walk but with consistency and diligence, it’ll be greatly rewarding in the end.

Don’t dare to walk in someone else’s path, it’s risky. And remember, your journey doesn’t have to make sense to anyone. As long as you know who you are and what you’re meant to do, make sure nothing stops you. Your purpose might be tied to other persons to fulfil theirs, this is why it’s better to make efforts to discover it early and work towards it.

Most importantly, you should never compare yourself with anyone because each person comes with different packages. Yours is unique and you must live in it.
