Tata Motors has revised the lineup for its best-selling electric SUV, the Nexon EV, by discontinuing the 40.5 kWh battery pack option. With this update, the electric SUV is now available with only two battery pack options: 30 kWh and 45 kWh.
The 40.5 kWh version was positioned between the smaller 30 kWh and the larger 45 kWh battery packs, the latter of which was launched last year. The 40.5 kWh battery offered a claimed MIDC range of 390 km, making it 115 km more capable than the 30 kWh variant but falling 99 km short of the 45 kWh model.
The Nexon EV carries a sticker price of Rs Rs 12.49 lakh for the base variant while maxing out at Rs 17.19 lakh, ex-showroom. The 30 kWh version is offered in Creative+, Fearless, Fearless+, Fearless+S, and Empowered trims, with prices starting at Rs 12.49 lakh. Meanwhile, the 45 kWh variant is available in Creative, Fearless, Empowered, Empowered+, and the Red Dark edition, priced between Rs 13.99 lakh and Rs 17.19 lakh, ex-showroom.
Tata Nexon EV: 30 kWh, 45 kWh variants’ range and performance
In terms of performance, the Nexon EV with a 30 kWh battery delivers a range of 275 km on a full charge. It produces 130 hp and 215 Nm of torque, achieving 0-100 kmph in 9.2 seconds. Charging from 10% to 80% via a fast charger takes around 56 minutes.
The 45 kWh variant, now the longest-range model in the lineup, offers a claimed 489 km per charge. It generates 144 hp and 215 Nm of torque, completing the 0-100 kmph sprint in 8.9 seconds. The larger battery also supports fast charging, taking approximately 40 minutes to charge from 10% to 80% with a 60 kW DC charger.
With this update, Tata Motors has simplified its Nexon EV range, offering customers two distinct choices—one aimed at city commutes and the other catering to those looking for extended travel distances.
