Suzuki Motorcycle India has launched the GSX-8R in the Indian market, priced at Rs 9.25 lakh, ex-showroom. The middleweight supersport motorcycle was first unveiled at the Bharat Mobility Expo earlier this year. It will be available in three colours namely, Metallic Matte Sword Silver, Metallic Triton Blue, and Metallic Black No. 2 and will lock its horns against the likes of the Triumph Daytona 660, Kawasaki Ninja 660 and others.
The GSX-8R sports a sharp and aggressive design, with vertically stacked LED headlights, sleek air intakes, and a short, lifted rear section. At the heart of the motorcycle is a 776 cc liquid-cooled parallel-twin engine that churns out 81.8 hp at 78 Nm. To put it into context, the power output is almost on par with that of the Tata Punch. This engine, shared with Suzuki’s V-Strom 800 DE ADV, is paired with a 6-speed gearbox and features a bi-directional quick-shifter.

The frame is suspended by USD forks at the front and a link-type monoshock at the rear. In terms of braking, the GSX-8R comes with twin 310 mm discs at the front and a single 240 mm disc at the rear. It rides on 17-inch wheels wrapped in Dunlop Roadsport 2 radial tyres.
One of the standout features of the GSX-8R is Suzuki’s intelligent ride system, which includes three riding modes, a 4-step switchable traction control, ride-by-wire technology, ABS, and a low-rpm assist system. Other highlights include a 5-inch colour TFT-LCD console.
