Award-winning writer Zukiswa Wanner gave up her Goethe Medal because she is of the view that Germany is engaging in petty apartheid on behalf of Israel. She invites Muhammad Hussain to a video call to talk about her activism for Palestine and why this can be considered a cultural boycott of sorts.

It’s almost a year since award-winning author Zukiswa Wanner was in Palestine for that country’s literature festival (PalFest). While there, she encountered two Israeli soldiers. A young man and a young woman. The woman was singing to the man in Afrikaans.
