Salernitana monitoring Moffi

Italian Serie A side, Salernitana, have turned their attention to Nice striker, Terem Moffi again after reportedly being on their wish list last summer.

Salernitana are considering Moffi’s potential partnership with Senegalese forward Boulaye Dia or potentially finding a replacement if Dia returns to Spain.

Moffi recently joined Nice on loan from Lorient with an obligation to buy for an agreed record €30m fee on a four-and-a-half-year contract.

It remains to be seen if the Nigerian is going to push for an exit to join the Italian side after enjoying a successful season in the French Ligue 1 while he also rejected other offers to join Nice in January.

Moffi had an impressive season while playing for Lorient and Nice, scoring 18 league goals (12 in the colours of Lorient and six for Nice).

He also scored three goals in the UEFA Conference League in which his bicycle kick against Basel was awarded the goal of the season.

Interestingly, the Super Eagles striker surpassed the goal tally of renowned football stars such as Lionel Messi (16), Alexis Sanchez (13), and Neymar (12) in the recently concluded Ligue 1 season.

Considering OGC Nice’s obligation to make Moffi’s move permanent, the chances of him leaving the French club are slim. However, Salernitana are closely monitoring the situation while negotiations between Nice and Moffi continue, according to TuttoSalernitana.

In the unlikely event of a breakdown in talks, Salernitana are considering striking a deal with Lorient, which may involve a cash-plus-player swap, potentially including Boulaye Dia. Alternatively, there is also discussion about a loan arrangement with an obligation to buy.
