Royal Enfield has finally taken the wraps off its much-anticipated Scram 440 at the Motoverse 2024 in Goa. This motorcycle will replace the existing Scram 411 in the manufacturer’s lineup. It comes with significant mechanical enhancements and subtle design updates. Let’s take a look at what changes have been made to the model.
Royal Enfield Scram 440: Engine
The most significant change in the model comes in the form of a newly developed 443cc, single-cylinder, air-cooled engine. This powerplant churns out 25 hp at 6,250 rpm and 34 Nm of torque at 4,000 rpm. Compared to the existing model, the Scram 440 boasts a 4.5% increase in power and a 6.5% boost in torque. The engine continues to be paired with a six-speed gearbox.

Beyond the engine, Royal Enfield has introduced several upgrades aimed at improving the bike’s overall performance and usability. It now features a lighter clutch while the braking system has also been improved and now features switchable dual-channel ABS. Moreover, it now also offers alloy wheels with tubeless tyres while the rear subframe is now stiffer, aimed at providing better stability and handling. The bike also sees minor dimensional adjustments, with a 5 mm increase in wheelbase, length, and height and now gets a top box as an optional accessory.
Visually, the Scram 440 retains the rugged appeal of its predecessor but with a touch of modernity. A redesigned headlamp cluster gives it a more premium look, while the tail light and turn indicators have been refreshed to appear more sleek. The fuel tank now sports bold ‘440’ graphics, replacing the ‘411’ branding of the outgoing model. And lastly, there are new colour options on offer as well.

Royal Enfield Scram 440: Hardware
In terms of hardware, the suspension duties are carried out by gaitered telescopic forks at the front and a monoshock unit at the rear. Stopping power comes from a 300 mm disc at the front and a 240 mm disc at the rear, featuring switchable dual-channel ABS.
