Manchester City suffer setback as midfield anchor Rodri is expected to miss the rest of the season with an ACL injury.

The Spaniard sustained the injury during City’s 2-2 draw against Arsenal, leaving the field in the 21st minute after awkwardly planting his foot.

Although Rodri was able to walk off the pitch, initial tests suggest he has torn his cruciate ligaments, talkSPORT reports.

The full extent of his injury is yet to be confirmed by the club, but early signs point to a lengthy recovery period, likely ending his 2023/24 campaign, as suggested by multiple reports.

According to Football journalist Fabrizio Romano, Rodri has arrived “Barcelona to meet Dr. Cugat for further tests after his serious knee injury.”

Rodri’s absence is a major blow for City, given his vital role in their recent success, including their historic treble-winning campaign last season.

The 28-year-old scored the decisive goal in the Champions League final against Inter Milan and was instrumental in maintaining City’s dominance in the Premier League.

The English giants never lost a single match in which he featured last season.
