Police restrict movement in Cross River for LG polls | The Guardian Nigeria News

Ahead of the Cross River State Local Government Elections scheduled to be held on Saturday, November 2, 2024, the Police Command has ordered the restriction of movement across the 18 LGA.

Commissioner of Police, Cross River State Command, CP Gyogon Augustine Grimah, stated this in a statement issued by police spokesperson Irene Ugbo.

He said the restriction would take effect from midnight on November 2, till 6:00 pm the same day.

According to Ugbo, the restriction is to ensure the smooth and secure conduct of the electoral process and allow citizens to exercise their voting rights peacefully.

Only those on essential duties, such as medical personnel, accredited election observers and security personnel, will be permitted to move within restricted areas, the police said.

“Members of the public are urged to adhere strictly to this directive and avoid any actions that may disrupt the peace or compromise the success of the elections,” Ugbo said.

“The Police Command will work closely with sister security agencies to enforce this restriction and to ensure the safety of lives and property throughout the election period.”

While appealing to all citizens to remain law-abiding and cooperate fully with the law enforcement agencies.

The CP assured the public of the Command’s commitment to a peaceful and credible election process in Cross River State.
