On Nigeria’s obsession with the Guinness Book of Records. Nigerians love of trending and staying on current trends is a thing.
1. There is nothing classist about not encouraging a lazy mentality and a lack of imagination.
2. Like really? Is that the only challenge in the Guinness book of records?
3. Cooking is just one category, cooking for any amount of hours is just one subcategory in the task of cooking.
4. There’s literally thousands of categories and subcategories of challenges in the Guinness Book of Records.
5. There are new categories not even in the books yet.
6. But Nigerian chefs and budding chefs have latched on to one category of cooking for unlimited hours as their gateway to success in life.
7. And anyone not supporting this attempt to “copy success”, this stubborn inability to work using one’s own ideas and originality – and not be a lazy copycat – is an enemy plotting for their downfall.
8. Okay. Make that mentality make sense!
9. There’s nothing wrong with wanting to be successful.
10. There’s everything wrong with thinking there’s only one way to be successful, that there’s only one way to promote oneself in a particular profession and to counterfeit it like some sort of self improvement franchise.
