Unemployed doctors in KwaZulu-Natal marched to the provincial health department offices on Monday to demand jobs.
The national Department of Health previously said there was no money to hire at least 800 doctors countrywide who are looking for jobs – at least 225 of whom are in KwaZulu-Natal.
Dr Siyaneliswa Shozi, who convened Monday’s demonstration, said their plight was a reflection of government’s failure to plan for healthcare professionals and patients in South Africa.
