Rabiu Kwankwaso, the 2023 presidential candidate of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP), and former Cross River State Governor, Donald Duke, recently met with former President Olusegun Obasanjo.

According to reports, the meeting took place over the weekend at Obasanjo’s residence within the Olusegun Obasanjo Presidential Library (OOPL) in Abeokuta, Ogun State.

Sharing details and photos of the meeting on his X handle, Kwankwaso revealed that the discussions focused on key national issues, including the future of politics and governance in Nigeria.

He wrote: “I was pleased to be in company of my friend, HE Donald Duke and other associates to pay a courtesy call on President Olusegun Obasanjo at his residence in Abeokuta.

“Deliberations on significant national issues, including the future of politics and governance in Nigeria defined the conversation.

“We are grateful to Baba for his warm support and hospitality. – RMK.”

In other news, ahead of the 2027 presidential elections, Buba Galadima, a chieftain of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP), has accused the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) of offering financial incentives to opposition parties to secure their support for its candidate.

Galadima alleged that the APC is using monetary promises, intimidation, and other strategies to compel opposition parties to align with the government’s agenda.

He claimed that the APC has already weakened opposition parties such as the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), the Labour Party (LP), and others.

However, Galadima asserted that the NNPP remains unaffected, describing the party as “too smart” for such tactics.

He further stated that the NNPP leader, Rabiu Kwankwaso, is a significant challenge and “the nightmare of the APC.”
