The foundation of Bafana Bafana’s Africa Cup of Nations (Afcon) campaign will rest on a shaky department that has been exposed leading up to the tournament.

Bafana’s scoring woes are well-documented, and in this Afcon they will be made worse by the absence of the injured Lebo Mothiba, while Lyle Foster chose to remain in England with Burnley as he continues his fight against mental health challenges.

But when Bafana start their campaign against Mali in Korhogo on Tuesday night, the spotlight will be on the team’s defence – especially its central defence pairing.
