Naira rain on F/Eagles ahead of Niger clash

The Flying Eagles have received cash rewards from notable Nigerians from all walks of life for progressing to the semifinals of the 2024 WAFU Zone B U-20 Championship following a 2-1 win over Ivory Coast on Thursday.

The team faces Niger in the last four in pursuance of a ticket to AFCON U-20 and has been boosted by varying cash incentives.

According to the team’s media officer, Sharif Abdullah, the Deputy Senate President, Sen. Barau Jibrin, rewarded the team’s effort with the sum of N2m, while the Chairman of Crystal Sapphire Ltd., Frank Peters, doled out N1.5m with a pledge of another huge some if the team beats Niger Republic to the AFCON U-20 ticket in the semifinals.

Super Eagles and Leicester City midfielder Wilfred Ndidi, who starred for the Flying Eagles before graduating to the Super Eagles, showered the team with N5m.

Also, a member of the football family, Mr. Victor Apugo, gifted the team N1m with a promise to make it N3m if they fly past the Niger Republic.

Meanwhile, the Flying Eagles have redeemed the N1m earlier promised by Switzerland-based Nigerian coach, Adedeji Adeyemi Anthony, which he had promised them if they beat Ivory Coast.

Meanwhile, Mavlon FC Chairman, Barrister Kenneth Agadugba, has deposited N2 million in cash reward with a pledge to make it N12 million if the team reaches the final.

Earlier on Thursday, a senior staff member of the Nigeria Football Federation dished out N1 million, and another member of the football fraternity who doesn’t want his name in print gave out N1.5 million to the team.
