Mercedes-Benz India recently launched the new Mercedes-Benz E-Class LWB sedan in the Indian market. India is the only right-hand-drive market for the E-Class LWB, and this marks the second generation of the LWB version available here. The Mercedes-Benz E-Class is offered in three variants – E200 priced at Rs 78.5 lakh, E220d priced at Rs 81.5 lakh and top-of-the-line E450 priced at Rs 92.5 lakh (ex-showroom).
All three variants in the new E-Class LWB came equipped with the ‘Superscreen’ setup that comprises a 12.3-inch free-standing digital instrument cluster, a 14.4-inch touchscreen infotainment system and a 12.3-inch passenger touchscreen. And now, the company has rejigged the variant and equipment configuration. The E200 petrol and E 220d diesel trims come in the entry-level Avantgarde spec, whereas the range-topping E 450 4Matic is offered in the AMG Line trim.
Now, the superscreen setup is now limited to the top-spec E 450 AMG Line trim. The remaining two trims, gets a slightly re-designed dashboard with and in place of the passenger screen, the dashboard now gets a wooden finish. With the absence of the third screen, the prices of the Avantgarde trims will come down and the official prices will be revealed soon.
In terms of other features, the E-Class LWB features rear seats that recline up to 36 degrees, 730W, 17-speaker and 4-exciter 4D surround sound system by Burmester, 64 colours customisable ambient lighting, four-zone climate control, wireless charger, multiple Type-C charging ports, auto-dimming IRVM, dashboard-mounted cabin-facing camera, rear AC vents, panoramic sunroof, 360-degree surround camera, powered front and rear seats and much more. In terms of safety, it gets eight airbags, a 360-degree camera, a tyre pressure monitoring system, and level 2 ADAS features such as automatic emergency braking and adaptive cruise control.

The Mercedes-Benz E-Class gets three engine options – E 450 with a 3.0-litre six-cylinder turbo-petrol which puts out 381hp of power and 500Nm torque. E200 gets a 2.0-litre four-cylinder turbo petrol which puts out 204hp turbo-petrol. E220d with a 2.0-litre turbo diesel with 197hp power. All three engines get a 48V mild-hybrid system that provides an additional 23hp and 205Nm. All three engines comes paired eight a 9-speed torque converter automatic gearbox.
