City initially looked to be in control after Josko Gvardiol opened the scoring in the 36th minute with a clinical finish, giving the home side a well-deserved lead.
United struggled to find rhythm in the first half and went into the break trailing 1-0.
Tempers flared shortly before halftime, with City’s Kyle Walker and United’s Rasmus Højlund both receiving yellow cards in a tense contest.
The game, however, turned on its head in the final minutes.
Bruno Fernandes equalised in the 88th minute with a composed penalty, sparking a surge of energy in the United camp. The penalty was awarded after sustained pressure from United in the closing stages of the game.
Just two minutes later, Amad Diallo sealed the comeback, finding the net in the 90th minute following an assist from Lisandro Martínez.
Diallo’s goal silenced the City crowd and secured a crucial three points for United.
The victory will be seen as a significant morale boost for Manchester United as they look to build momentum in the Premier League.
