Maruti Suzuki recently launched the Jimny Thunder Edition in India which came with a massive price cut over the price of the standard variants of the SUV. The entry-level Zeta variant of the car is now Rs 2 lakh more affordable, which means that it now undercuts the Mahindra Thar 4×2 (RWD).

The Mahindra Thar RWD can be had with either a 2.0-litre turbocharged petrol motor producing 150 hp and 320 Nm, or a 1.5-litre diesel engine rated at 117 hp/300 Nm. The petrol engine is available with a 6-speed AT only, while the diesel mill gets a 6-speed manual as standard on the 4×2 variants.

Pricing for the Maruti Suzuki Jimny has been slashed by Rs 2 lakh for the Zeta variant and Rs 1 lakh for the Alpha trim with the introduction of the new Thunder Edition.
