PARIS. – Springbok captain Siya Kolisi said Cheslin Kolbe’s charge down of Thomas Ramos’ conversion not only epitomised their chasing of “lost causes”, but formed part of the something special they needed to beat France 29-28 in an enthralling Rugby World Cup quarter-final at the Stade de France on Sunday.
The Boks had conceded an early try to French prop Cyril Baille, but through Damian de Allende and Kurt-Lee Arendse, they surged into a 12-7 lead.
Ramos was in the process of converting hooker Peato Mauvaka’s 22nd-minute try from just beyond the 22m line on the right-hand touchline, before Kolbe moved as soon he was allowed and absorbed the full blast of the ball on his arms.
