About the IPU:

The IPU is the world’s oldest political multilateral organization, founded in 1889. Comprising 180 Member Parliaments globally, the IPU is dedicated to promoting peaceful conflict resolution, strengthening democracies, and fostering parliamentary cooperation on a global scale.

Internship Details:

As an intern at the IPU Division for Member Parliaments and External Relations, you will work closely with the Director and contribute to various tasks aimed at advancing parliamentary diplomacy and international cooperation. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Assisting with drafting communications to member Parliaments.
  • Conducting research on parliamentary actions following IPU resolutions.
  • Supporting diplomatic efforts, particularly concerning the Caucasus and the resolution of the war in Ukraine.
  • Assisting in organizing the 149th IPU Assembly in Geneva in October 2024.
  • Contributing to in-house document archiving.
  • Undertaking other tasks as required.

Requirements:

We are looking for candidates who possess:

  • A university degree in international relations, political science, law, history, or a related field.
  • Strong research and analytical skills.
  • The ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Fluency in English, with knowledge of French considered an advantage.
  • Proficiency in MS Office and internet research.
  • Attention to detail and the ability to multitask effectively.

Duration and Location:

The internship will run from May 6th to December 20th, 2024, at 80% capacity. It will take place at the IPU Headquarters in Geneva.

Remuneration:

Interns will receive a monthly allowance of CHF 1,200 (part-time).
