A Johannesburg retirement home has labelled the city’s water crisis as one of the worst it has experienced since the facility was built in 1968.

According to Ekklesia Park in Randburg, 130 residents, 60% of whom are in frail care, were hit hard by the massive water outage and had to rely on donations.

“After five days of having no municipal water in the old age home, we can truly say that it is one of the largest obstacles in providing quality care that we have experienced since being founded in 1968,” manager Minda van Niekerk told News24.
