The Regional Office for Europe and Central Asia (REU) leads FAO’s response to regional priorities for food security, agriculture, and rural development. Responsibilities of the Young Professional Officer:
The Young Professional Officer (Resilience to Climate Change and Disasters) will play a crucial role in supporting planning, delivery, and reporting of climate change and disaster resilience initiatives in the agriculture, forestry, and fisheries sectors. Key responsibilities include:
- Providing technical assistance and support for regional and country program/projects
- Conducting research, data collection, and technical analysis
- Assisting in the formulation of Disaster Risk Reduction (DRR), Climate Change, and resilience projects
- Collaborating with regional and subregional offices on technical support for project implementation
- Contributing to capacity development initiatives related to climate change and disaster resilience in agriculture
Qualifications and Competencies:
Minimum Requirements:
- Advanced university degree in agriculture, agro-climatology, natural resources, or related fields
- One year of relevant experience in sustainable agriculture development, climate change, or disaster risk management
- Proficient in English and intermediate knowledge of another official FAO language (Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian, or Spanish)
