Jannik Sinner successfully defended his Australian Open title by defeating Alexander Zverev to win his third Grand Slam title in his tennis career.

The Italian made an easy win over Alexander Zverev in straight sets to win the match 6-3, 7-6, 6-3 in the Australian Open final. Jannik Sinner made history becoming the first player from Italy to win three Grand Slam titles, surpassing the legendary Nicola Pietrangeli, who claimed two Roland Garros trophies in 1959 and 1960.

The win extends Sinner’s 21-match unbeaten run dates back to last October and has won an incredible 22 consecutive sets against the top 10 players.

The victory for Alexander Zverev means that the wait for Grand Slam glory continues, having lost in the 2020 US Open final against Dominic Thiem and the 2024 French Open final against Carlos Alcaraz.

The 27-year-old German becomes the sixth man in the Open era to lose his first three Grand Slam finals, having also fallen at the final hurdle at the 2020 US Open and 2024 French Open.
