The latest player to be added to the injury list at Chelsea Football Club is the Blues defender, Trevoh Chalobah who was stretched off in the opening five minutes of the game against Aston Villa.
The head coach of Chelsea, Enzo Maresca gave an update on the defender’s fitness ahead of the Premier league game against relegation-threatened side, Southampton in the Premier League on Tuesday, February 25, 2025. According to him, Trevoh Chalobah should be out for at least a week or ten days.
He said,
“He had a check yesterday. He will be [out for] around one week to ten days.”
He also spoke about Chelsea’s current form and how he intends to lead his team in navigating the final 12 games of the league as they look to qualify for the UEFA Champions League next season.
He said,
“We asked for a better performance [than Brighton], the performance was there. We didn’t deserve the final result [vs Aston Villa], but we need to accept that. In this moment it’s not enough, we need to find something extra to get results. I don’t think [the players] reserved energy against Villa. They are giving everything. The performance from the players was there.”
He continued,
“Our duty is to prepare every game to win. From now on, we have 12 games to go, no doubt they are all must win for us. I really think that [it could be tricky vs Southampton]. It’s football. I am not saying that for a message, I really believe every game is a tricky game. The differences are so tiny. We need to be focused on how we win the game.”
Chelsea are currently in sixth place ahead of their games against Southampton and Leicester City. A win in both games will put them in the driving seat to finish in the top four.
