‘I’m ready to play any position,’ Bellingham says before Liverpool clash

Real Madrid attacking midfielder, Jude Bellingham, has revealed his admiration for the club, saying he’s open to playing any position for the progress of the team.

Bellingham, who had a spectacular outing last season at the Spanish capital since his move from Borussia Dortmund, noted that while he prefers to play in attack,  deploying him in another position won’t “affect” him.

In a press conference on Tuesday night ahead of their Champions League clash with Liverpool at the Anfield Stadium on Wednesday, the England international said, “It’s been like any other adaptation. It changes the dynamic a bit, the style of play and the approach, but I’ve shown that I can play in different positions. I prefer a bit more up-front, but it’s not important for me.

“I’m willing to play wherever they put me and I’m not affected by the position. We always set the team up to win … I joined last summer and the club lost (Karim) Benzema, one of its best players.

“There was a gap and it was a way to compensate for this lack of goals. This year we have signed one of the best players of this generation, who has scored an unbelievable amount of goals. My role is going to change and I’m totally willing to do that.”

The 21-year-old has seen his attacking role decline at the club since the big-money arrival of France World Cup winner Kylian Mbappe.

Before Mbappe’s arrival, Bellingham played upfront with Brazilian attackers Vinicius Junior and Rodrygo Silva de Goes; amassing 23 goals across all competitions last season.

However, this season, the Englishman has only managed two goals, with back-to-back strikes in their last two games in the domestic league.
