Grammy-winning Nigerian singer, Damini Ogulu, popularly known as Burna Boy, has reacted to the release of his controversial colleague, Speed Darlington, from Kuje prison.
Naija News had earlier reported that Darlington, who was arrested for accusing Burna Boy of having an immoral relationship with embattled American rapper Diddy, regained his freedom on Tuesday, weeks after being granted bail.
The release of Speed Darlington, born Darlington Achakpo, was confirmed by his lawyer, Stan Alieke, in a post on Instagram.
Alieke expressed determination to seek justice for what he described as Darlington’s illegal detention and the violation of his fundamental human rights by the Nigerian Police Force.
The statement read, “Delighted to announce that our client, Mr. Darlington Achakpo, aka Speed Darlington (Akpi), has regained his freedom after two months of illegal incarceration.
“For the record, as his team of lawyers, we will be exploring every angle of the law to ensure that he gets justice for his fundamental human rights, which were deprived by the Nigerian Police Force and for the unfair/unjust treatment he was subjected to.
“Mr. Achakpo extends his gratitude to everyone who supported him and gives special thanks to my colleagues: Mr. Marshal Abubakar Esq, Barr Deji Adeyanju, Barr Hamza Nuh, and Barr David.”
Reacting to the development, Burna Boy took to his Instagram page on Tuesday night to issue a stern warning to Darlington.
“If you like misbehave again, you’ll go back to where you come from! And this time around, there will be no mercy! Don’t m*ss with ODG,” Burna Boy wrote.
