Gauteng Human Settlements MEC Lebogang Maile has left residents of the dilapidated Diepkloof Hostel fuming after he failed to address them during a visit on Tuesday morning.

“The MEC should have stayed at home. He shouldn’t have come here. He said nothing. He didn’t tell us something that makes sense,” said hostel induna Dumisani Mncube.

Maile visited the hostel after the residents embarked on a violent protest on Monday, demanding proper housing from Gauteng Premier Panyaza Lesufi.
