Manchester United’s reported interest in Napoli striker Victor Osimhen has sparked excitement among fans, with the Red Devils considering a potential swap deal involving Joshua Zirkzee, PUNCH Sports Extra reports.
The 25-year-old Nigerian forward, currently on loan at Galatasaray, has been in scintillating form, netting eight goals and providing four assists in nine appearances for the Turkish giants in the 2024/25 campaign.
According to Italian journalist Gerardo Fasano, United’s new head coach Ruben Amorim is keen on bringing the former Lille striker to Old Trafford, with struggling forward Zirkzee potentially moving in the opposite direction.
“Manchester United is said to be on the trail of Victor Osimhen. I have been told that the English, through mister Amorim, could include the former Bologna striker Zirkzee in the negotiations for Osimhen,” Fasano told Area Napoli.
The development has sent United fans into a frenzy, with many taking to social media platform X to express their delight at the prospect of signing the prolific striker.
“I want Victor Osimhen in Man United,” Akan Imoh wrote enthusiastically.
Another fan, @bennimxUTD, believes Osimhen’s arrival could boost United’s title chances, writing, “Beautiful. Bring him, he will make us the title contender.”
A fan, @groovymono, who revealed he had wanted Sporting striker Viktor Gyokeres at United, called Osimhen his dream signing.
“I know I’ve been singing Gyokores praises lately but Osimhen is and still remains my dream striker for Man United,” he wrote.
“Hojlund can become like Gyokores if he trains hard plus they even have the same physical features. But you see Osimhen, he has no replica.”
@zadde_yo was hopeful about the transfer materialising, writing, “Osimhen to United, God make this a reality.”
Another supporter, @Qamarul_Mohd, simply stated, “Victor Osimhen should join Man United.”
The Nigeria international has impressed since joining Napoli, recording 76 goals and 18 assists in 133 appearances for the Italian side.
United’s current strikers have struggled this season, with Zirkzee and Rasmus Hojlund managing just three goals between them in the Premier League.
Chelsea and Arsenal are also reportedly interested in Osimhen, who has a contract with Napoli until 2026, while he previously rejected moves to Saudi Arabia in favour of remaining in European football.
