The head coach of Chelsea, Enzo Maresca has shown his support for the club’s number-one shot-stopper, Robert Sanchez who has been criticised in the past by the supporters.
Chelsea has failed to keep a clean sheet in the past couple of games and Robert Sanchez has been singled out by the club’s supporters as the reason for conceding those goals.
Maresca was asked about what he thinks about Sanchez’s performance.
I fully trust Robert Sanchez. How many times has Caicedo missed a pass? Many times. How many times has Nico missed a goal? Many times” How many times has Noni missed a cross? Many times. Robert has made four mistakes.”
He also spoke about Chelsea’s chances of finishing in the top four ahead of the game against Manchester City.
He commented,
“If you see the top six in this moment, we beat Bournemouth away and draw at home, beat Newcastle at home, draw against Arsenal, lost against Liverpool and City. It’s a matter of balance. I don’t think if we win tomorrow it means we are ready for the title.”
Chelsea face Manchester City in the top game of this weekend at the Etihad Stadium on Saturday, January 25, 2025.
