Babcock Academy has told the graduating class to dream ambitiously, work diligently, and remain connected to their roots.
The graduation and award ceremony took place at the Babcock Academy Auditorium.
Principal of Babcock Academy, Dr. Gabriel Fasanu, addressed the gathering, noting that the event marked the eighth graduation prize and award ceremony for the esteemed institution.
Fasanu highlighted the significance of the term “Aureate,” which signifies golden quality and is often linked with warmth, richness, and opulence.
He shared his reflections with the graduates, acknowledging their journey through various challenges, including personal and financial struggles, and their triumphs over demanding subjects.
“Dear SS3 students, you have navigated through numerous obstacles and faced tough experiences, from family challenges to the pressures of school fees and rigorous examinations.
“Remember, you need to have a dream and work towards it. May you discover your true self as early as possible. As you are blessed, do not forget your roots or lose sight of your origins,” he said.
The ceremony also paid tribute to the contributions of past administrations, including the pioneering Principal, Dr Bolanle Adebawojo, and the immediate past principal, Elder Samuel Obot.
Their leadership has played a crucial role in the growth and development of Babcock Academy, which was recognised and celebrated by Fasanu.
Director of the Babcock University Centre for Open, Distance, and E-learning, Prof. Mobolanle Sotunsa, spoke on the evolving nature of communication.
She emphasised that communication extends beyond talking, writing, or texting it is about connecting, sharing ideas, and influencing the world.
She encouraged graduates to embrace technology, use it to innovate, connect, and make a positive impact.
Chairman of the Babcock University Schools’ Board, Professor Abiodun Adesegun, urged graduates to uphold their values even in challenging situations, drawing inspiration from the biblical story of Daniel.
He commended both the graduates and their parents for their dedication and sacrifice, acknowledging the crucial support provided by families and teachers.
“You are fortunate to have received this education, and I congratulate your parents for their sacrifices. Please give them a round of applause for ensuring that you could continue your education without hindrance,” Professor Adesegun said. “You have been equipped with the skills needed for the next level, whether at Babcock University or elsewhere. You are well-prepared to excel in all aspects of life.”
He acknowledged the unique challenges faced by today’s youth, including the pervasive influence of the internet and social media. Despite these challenges, the institution has significantly contributed to guiding the Aureate class during their formative years, offering blessings and encouragement to make a positive impact and shine brightly.
One of the graduates, Ezeama Precious expressed heartfelt gratitude to her parents, teachers, and support staff for their unwavering support and encouragement.
She urged her peers to also express their appreciation to those who have helped them along their journey, including family, friends, and educators.
