Nigerian midfielder Daniel Daga has completed his move to Norwegian Eliteserien side FK Molde on a three-year deal from FC ONE Rocket, PUNCH Sports Extra reports.

The 18-year-old, who recently helped Enyimba reach the CAF Confederation Cup group stage while on loan, has already begun training with his new club.

Molde CEO Øystein Neerland expressed delight at securing the versatile midfielder’s signature.

“We are very happy to bring in an exciting and talented player from Nigeria,” Neerland told the club’s website.

“Daniel already has experience from the top division there, and he is considered a great talent. We look forward to following his development here in Molde and helping him take new steps in his career.”

The Benue-born player rose through the ranks at Carabana Football Academy before breaking into FC ONE Rocket’s first team during the 2021/22 Nigeria National League season.

His mentor and FC ONE Rocket President, Nse Essien, who discovered him as a schoolboy, celebrated the move on social media.

“CONGRATULATIONS SON… LET’S GO MOLDE,” Essien wrote.

Daga, who can play in defensive midfield, central midfield and central defence, represented Nigeria at various youth levels, winning the 2022 WAFU B tournament before featuring at both the U-20 AFCON and 2023 FIFA U-20 World Cup.

The talented midfielder could make his debut for Molde, who finished second in the Eliteserien last season, in Tuesday’s friendly against Træff at the Aker Stadion.
