China’s eastern city of Ningbo has reached over 100 cooperation projects on education with Central and Eastern European Countries (CEECs), according to the host of the 8th China-CEEC Education and Exchange Conference, which concluded in Ningbo, eastern China’s Zhejiang Province on Friday.
Themed “Digitization & Integration of Education and Industry”, Friday’s meeting attracted about 260 attendants from governments, schools, enterprises and media outlets, including Croatia’s former deputy prime minister, consuls from Hungary, Bulgaria, Slovenia, Slovakia, Greece and more.
Six cooperation agreements among Chinese schools and CEEC chambers of commerce and schools have been signed, five projects on joint construction of research centers, youth entrepreneurship alliances and youth exchanges have been unveiled, and a ceremony for China-CEEC educational exchange portal has also been launched at the meeting.
Besides, the grand gathering also held a scholarship awarding ceremony for international students and another ceremony for the first China-CEEC vocational skills competition, which drew about 326 teams domestically and 30 teams from 14 Central and Eastern European countries.

So far, Ningbo has built up cooperation with all the CEECs and attracted more than 200 schools, enterprises and research institutions to carry out in-depth cooperation. And two ministry-level research centers, five education cooperation platforms, four language centers and three schools for children of foreign workers have also been established , according to the government of Ningbo.
Experts say China-CEEC education cooperation platforms have been increasingly welcomed by the CEECs and countries along the “Belt and Road.” The successful commencement of this year’s education cooperation and exchange conference will significantly enhance the international influence of Ningbo and provide further support for the economic and trade cooperation between China and the CEECs.
Ningbo held the third China-CEEC Expo & International Consumer Goods Fair from Tuesday to Saturday, which brought in over 400 overseas exhibitors with more than 5,000 kinds of exhibits. According to the fair organizing committee, about 15,000 procurers attended the exhibition and purchase orders reached 10.531 billion yuan, both of which hit record highs.
