The Champions International School, located in Magboro, Ogun State, marked its 20th anniversary with a grand celebration and the launch of a commemorative book.
The event, held on Saturday at the school’s field, brought together parents, staff, students, alumni, and community leaders to honor the institution’s achievements.
The school, which includes both primary and secondary sections, is jointly managed by the Director of Studies, Mr Fola Adekeye, and Mrs Bosede Adekeye.
Speaking at the occasion, the school’s CEO, Mrs Bosede Adekeye, expressed gratitude to God and joy over the milestone.
She highlighted four key attributes that distinguished Champions International School graduates from other schools
“Four attributes separate our graduates from the crowd. The first attribute is academic excellence. The second is Godliness, the third attribute is critical thinking and effective communication and the fourth attribute is active citizenship.
“We train our students to honor their parents, respect elders, and render community services,” she emphasised.
Adekeye also shared the story behind the school’s founding. Recalling her family’s early challenges in Magboro, she said, “Enrolling our children into a good school was our greatest challenge.”
She revealed that the idea and name of the school came from divine inspiration.
“One evening, after a refreshing rest, my husband went to draw water from our shallow well. It was by the well that he heard the name, ‘Champions International School.’ That night, God showed us unusual grace and mercy, leading us by His word to establish the school. He promised us that every child who passes through us would be exceedingly great in life,” she said.
The school pastor, Emmanuel Kelani, noted that the institution’s success was rooted in its humble beginnings.
“The school thrived because they started with their children and friends ‘children. They led by example, encouraging others to bring their children,” he said.
The event’s chairman, the Oluomo of Ayedun Kingdom, Chief Dr Idowo Ogunsola, commended the school’s remarkable journey.
“We are here today to celebrate 20 years of development, cohesion, and rigorous academic distinctions, backed with prayers. Mama (Mrs. Adekeye) listed four attributes, but I would add a fifth one: ownership and collective responsibility. Everyone here plays their part fully, like owners,” he stated.
He further stated that by God’s grace, they would celebrate the establishment of the school’s university.
Parents, staff, and alumni shared testimonies of the school’s impact, expressing joy and gratitude for its contributions to their lives.
