Canada honours Ugo Ejidoh for ‘public health impact’ in Africa

Ugo Ejidoh, a public health practitioner, has been honoured by the Canadian house of commons for her contributions to public health in Nigeria and across Africa.

Ejidoh’s contributions have improved public health outcomes in Nigeria and inspired others in the health sector to explore more innovative approaches to creating healthier and safer environments.

Her work aligns with global efforts to achieve sustainable development goals, particularly in the areas of good health and well-being, and climate action.

Shafqat Ali, a member of the Canadian parliament representing Brampton Centre, presented the award to Ejidoh.

Speaking on the honour, Ejidoh noted that the recognition is a testament to her “outstanding work in promoting environmental health and advancing sustainable health practice”.

Ejidoh has dedicated her career to creating healthier communities through data analytics and innovative public health solutions.

“I am grateful for being recognised; this is another stepping-stone towards achieving my career goals as an environmental health analyst,” she said.
