The Global Network of Young People Living with HIV (Y+ Global) and HER Voice Fund are seeking HER Voice Fund Ambassadors in Botswana, Mozambique, South Africa, and Zambia
Background
The HER Voice Fund supports the meaningful engagement of adolescent girls and young women (AGYW) and youth-led community-based organisations in Global Fund and other related policy and program processes in 13 countries where globally new infections amongst AGYW are the highest and where the disparity in HIV risk between young women and men is the greatest. The HER Voice Fund is supported by ViiV Healthcare Positive Action and the Global Fund and implemented by the Global Network of Young People Living with HIV (Y+ Global).
Recognising the critical knowledge and expertise of AGYW and the importance of ethical empowerment, meaningful engagement, and leadership of AGYW in decisions that affect our lives, we are seeking to recruit HER Voice Fund Ambassadors in Botswana, Mozambique, South Africa and Zambia.
HER Voice Fund aligns with the Y+ Global strategic-plan-2022-2025 pillar one, Raise Our Voice, that focuses on strengthening accountability to ensure that laws and policies reflect the rights and needs of AGYW in all our diversity, including AGYW living with HIV, AGYW living with disabilities, those who identify as Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Intersex, Queer (LGBTIQ+), AGYW in conflict-affected zones, those in rural areas, AGYW who inject/use drugs, AGYW who sell sex, pregnant AGYW, and young mothers.
Eligibility
- Must be an adolescent girl or young woman aged between 18 and 29 years old;
- A resident or a citizen of Botswana, Mozambique, South Africa, and Zambia;
- Passionate and knowledgeable about HIV, TB and Malaria, SRHR, GBV and the broader health of AGYWs in all their diversity;
- A self-starter as well as a committed team player, ready to make a difference;
- Demonstrable experience in working with and advocating for the diverse needs and priorities of adolescent girls and young women;
- Awareness of country dynamics and strong relationships with HIV, TB and Malaria, SRHR and women’s networks and organisations;
- Have experience and/or knowledge about national Global Fund processes;
- Able to commit to a two-year term, providing a minimum of eight days of work per month;
- Excellent knowledge of English required (Fluency in written and oral communication);
- Strong communication skills and reliable access to the internet and online communication tools such as Zoom, Google Meetings, or Microsoft Teams.
Support for the Ambassador
Ambassadors will receive an honorarium to recognise their work and cover communication and data costs. They will also receive close engagement and support to review presentations and talking points and assistance with logistical support as they participate in policy and advocacy spaces.
In addition, ambassadors will have the opportunity to enhance their advocacy and leadership skills. They will also be able to connect to other initiatives that focus on HIV, sexual reproductive health and rights, gender equality, education and empowerment, among other areas of interest.
Key Responsibilities and Tasks
- Be the face of the HER Voice Fund in-country, representing its ideals and core principles and committed to achieving VF goals and objectives;
- Lead the development and implementation of evidence and human rights-based and gender-transformative advocacy agendas, articulating the needs and priorities of AGYW;
- Work with the Country Lead to monitor country commitments and plans at the national and sub-national levels;
- Meet with grantees to support and raise awareness of their activities;
- Promote the HVF in the media and share implementation stories on various communication platforms;
- Participate in the Project Advisory Group in the selection of grantees;
- Participate in regional and global meetings to represent the priorities of adolescent girls and young women in the HIV response;
- Report on grantee organisation activities and contribute to reports on the progress of the HER Voice Fund.
What are the Requirements
- A letter of interest not exceeding 300 words clearly explains why you want to be the HER Voice Fund Ambassador and your experience advocating or engaging with AGYW at the local or country level;
- A curriculum vitae (2 pages maximum);
- A recommendation letter from a reputable local organisation working with AGYW in your country;
