Government paid the SABC R7 million to produce a 13-part television series showcasing government initiatives, which is being broadcast in an election year.

Citizens Connect is a 13-part “social reality programme” on SABC2 which features government content, short biopics and dramatic re-enactments on matters relating to the economy, crime and governance.

Four episodes of the show have been aired so far, with themes ranging from gender-based violence to entrepreneurship, crime and agriculture.
