Held hostage by two fists
I, a rubber band, lose my elasticity.
With a firm grip, I gasp for breath
& become a glass under the rock.

Sire: Life lives not in her yard; she runs errands for death.
Ma: Responsibility is a giant, he runs from it.

Nights mimic my days,
for my sleeps reek of wakefulness.
Peace dies in my heart
My pure soul is shrouded in a
pain-stained cassock.
Dilemma becomes a bone that
grabs me in the throat.

Who is here to succour?
Comfort, left with his load;
my comfort bereft of solace.
And in woes, I dwell all day
prospering in dismay.
If I were to be a bird,
I would flee to a new nest.
