Chelsea’s defender, Ben Chilwell is one of the players who have been frozen out of the team since the arrival of Enzo Maresca at the start of the 2024/25 season.

Daily Mail confirmed on its official website on Wednesday, January 29, 2025,, that the left-back will not leave the club during this transfer window. Ben Chilwell is not close to leaving the Blues, for whom he has appeared only once this season which was as a substitute in the Carabao Cup win over League Two Barrow in September.

The 28-year-old has continued to train at Cobham to maintain fitness but with nothing currently lined up, he is now facing a full season without meaningful first-team football. Maresca also left him out of their FA Cup victory over League Two Morecambe as the Blues did not want to risk injury while trying to find him a new club.

Maresca had always affirmed that Chilwell is not his type of left-back and is unlikely to change that stance if he stays. He has been with Chelsea since August 2020 when he arrived from Leicester City in a £ 50 million deal.

He has since made 107 appearances for the Stamford Bridge club, scoring nine goals. However, he has only featured in 13 Premier League games since the start of last season but has failed to play any minute in the league this season.
