Barcelona’s newest addition Dani Olmo has been sidelined from Spain’s training session after sustaining injury during their UEFA Nations League match against Serbia.

The midfielder was forced off late in the 0-0 draw following a heavy challenge.

Ahead of Spain’s next fixture against Switzerland in Geneva, Spain’s head coach Luis de la Fuente has confirmed that Olmo received a “heavy blow” and will sit out training, with no clear date for his recovery.

While de la Fuente dismissed concerns of player fatigue, he emphasized that no risks would be taken with Olmo, who is likely to start on the bench.

The former RB Leipzig player is expected to be ready for Barcelona’s next La Liga match against Girona scheduled for September 15.
