Ayra Starr’s ‘Memories’ has made a surprise feature as a soundtrack for Marvel’s latest release, Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man.

Ayra Starr is proving once again that Afrobeats is unstoppable as her song Memories has officially been featured in Marvel’s latest animated series, Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man, marking yet another major crossover moment for African music.

Marvel is a household name for many, and seeing an Afrobeats anthem in a Spider-Man project is something that would have been unheard of years ago. But times are changing, and Ayra Starr is right at the centre of it.

The song Memories comes from her latest album, The Year I Turned 21, an emotional, genre-blending project that showcases her growth as an artist.

Ayra Starr has solidified her place as one of Afrobeats’ biggest stars, achieving major milestones in just a few years. Signed to Mavin Records, she first gained recognition with her 2021 self-titled EP, followed by her debut album 19 & Dangerous, which produced hits like Bloody Samaritan.

Her 2022 single Rush became a global sensation, earning over 370 million Spotify streams and a Grammy nomination for Best African Music Performance. She continued her success with Sability, which topped the charts and landed on Barack Obama’s summer playlist.

In 2024, she released her sophomore album, The Year I Turned 21, showcasing her artistic evolution. With multiple BET and Headies nominations, a Grammy nod, and collaborations with global stars, Ayra Starr has proven that she is here to stay.
