After the success of the Aprilia RS 457, which became the most affordable offering from the brand in India and recently won the IMOTY 2025 award, the Italian manufacturer has now expanded its lineup with the Tuono 457. The naked streetfighter has been launched at Rs 3.95 lakh, ex-showroom, making it Rs 25,000 more affordable than the RS 457, which is priced at Rs 4.20 lakh, ex-showroom. While both motorcycles share the same platform, they bring distinct characteristics to the table. Here’s a look at the similarities and differences.
Aprilia Tuono 457 vs Aprilia RS 457: Differences and similarities
The most noticeable difference between the two is in their design. The Tuono 457, being a naked streetfighter, ditches the full fairing of the RS 457 for a more aggressive and muscular look, featuring extended panels and a completely redesigned front. It sports vertically stacked LED headlights with boomerang-shaped LED DRLs. Additionally, while the RS 457 features clip-on handlebars for a committed riding posture, the Tuono 457 comes with a traditional handlebar, offering a more upright stance.
Both bikes share the same 457cc liquid-cooled, parallel-twin engine. This motor makes 47.6 hp and 43.5 Nm of peak torque. Both models are equipped with a six-speed gearbox and a slip-and-assist clutch. Besides that, both models offer an optional quickshifter as well.
Feature-wise, the Tuono 457 is nearly identical to its faired sibling. It gets a 5-inch TFT display with smartphone connectivity, and three riding modes: Sport, Road, and Rain. Traction control with different levels is also offered with both bikes. The braking system is shared between both bikes, comprising a 320mm front disc and a 220mm rear disc, supported by dual-channel ABS. Suspension duties are handled by 41mm USD fork and a rear mono-shock, with preload adjustability.
A minor difference can be seen in the fuel tank capacity. The Tuono 457 carries 12.7 litres of fuel, slightly lower than the RS 457’s 13-litre tank.
