Senator Ali Ndume, representing Borno South, has advised Daniel Bwala to seek forgiveness from Vice President Kashim Shettima following his appointment as Special Adviser on Media and Public Communications to President Bola Tinubu.

Bwala, a former spokesperson for the Atiku Abubakar Campaign, had resigned from the All Progressives Congress (APC) ahead of the 2023 elections, citing his opposition to the Muslim-Muslim ticket, which featured Shettima as Tinubu’s running mate. Afterward, Bwala joined Atiku Abubakar’s campaign team.

In a statement issued on Saturday, Ndume urged Bwala to work closely with Shettima, who hails from the same Borno State.

He said, “Seek forgiveness from the Vice President, Kashim Shettima, whose appointment made you leave APC because he is a Muslim. Work with him (the Vice President) closely too as your second principal, to promote the Renewed Hope Agenda of Mr. President.”

Ndume further advised Bwala to follow the example of loyal Tinubu associates, including Sunday Dare and Bayo Onanuga, who defend the president’s policies without resorting to abuse or offensiveness.

He also cited Hadiza Bala-Usman and National Security Adviser, Nuhu Ribadu, as models of defending and promoting Tinubu’s policies based on facts and figures.

He stressed the importance of connecting with the grassroots, adding, “Charity begins from home,” and wished Bwala success in his new role.

Ndume also commended President Tinubu for appointing Bwala, describing the decision as a demonstration of “large-heartedness” in leadership, a rare quality in many leaders today.

He said, “I wish to commend President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for appointing Daniel Bwala as his special adviser to the President on public communication and media. This gesture deserves serious applause, particularly given the roles played by Bwala in recent past.”

Bwala’s appointment has sparked discussions, as it highlights the evolving political landscape and the efforts to foster unity within the ruling party.
