Former Flying Eagles striker Akor Adams is on the verge of jumping ship from relegation-threatened French club Montpellier to Sevilla in the Spanish La Liga as both clubs are said to be in talks for a potential €5.5m deal, PUNCH Sports Extra reports.

Football transfer expert Fabrizio Romano on Thursday reported that the Spanish club were in advanced talks to sign the forward.

“Deal set to happen for €5.5m transfer fee from Montpellier, despite links with other clubs he’s going to Sevilla as revealed. Here we go, soon,” Romano posted again on Thursday.

The former Flying Eagles has scored three goals and registered three assists for La Paillade this season with the club currently rock bottom of Ligue 1. They could now be set to lose one of their key players.

Adams has been Montpellier’s go-to No.9 since joining the club in the summer of 2023. Since arriving from Norway, he has 13 goals in 49 games.

However, Sevilla are now in talks to acquire his services. Romano understands that those talks are now at an advanced stage.

Only the final details must be applied before the Nigerian’s move to Spain is completed. It is expected that he will join on a permanent deal, the value of which is yet to be revealed.

In financial difficulty and facing relegation to Ligue 2, Montpellier had been looking to raise funds this month and Adams is seen as one of La Paillade’s more bankable assets.
