According to Italian publication, Football Italia, Roberto Calenda, the agent of Nigeria international, Victor Osimhen, is still in close contact with Napoli president Aurelio De Laurentiis, adding that no agreement has been reached yet despite multiple meetings.

Osimhen was crowned Serie A top scorer with 26 goals and is currently valued at £150m.

The 24-year-old was also named Serie A best striker for the 2022/23 Italian season, beating off competition from Inter Milan’s Lautaro Martinez and Rafael Leao of AC Milan to land the award.

The Partenopei are keen to tie down the 24-year-old striker to a new long-term contract, amidst interests from across Europe, but so far talks have not resulted in a new deal.

Football Italia added that Osimhen, who has two years left on his current contract in the Campania capital, is keen to stay with Napoli but wants a release clause in his new deal, giving him some assurances for the future.

As highlighted by Corriere dello Sport via TMW, Calenda met with Napoli on Tuesday to continue contract talks and left without a new agreement. He has met with the club six times now but his client is not closer to penning a new deal.

There is still confidence that an agreement can be reached soon, but there are a number of details that need to be resolved first, starting with Osimhen’s new salary and his release clause.
