Mikel Arteta in his latest press conference with reporters has shared his thoughts on the quiet January 2025 transfer window Arsenal had.
After being linked to numerous players in the start of the January 2025 transfer window and ending up with none, Arsenal FC’s head coach Mikel Arteta in his latest pre-match press conference has addressed questions on what he thinks of his side’s quiet transfer in the winter.
Mikel Arteta was full of nothing but praise for Arsenal’s board as he was of the opinion that they were smart in the transfer window and avoided rushing into any signings during the one month period of the window.
He however admitted that the window had been viewed as an opportunity to further strengthen the squad and were disappointed that this had not been something they were able to achieve. He indicated that his side only wanted to bring a specific type of player and were focused on being disciplined in that regard.
At the press conference Arteta stated, “We had a clear intention which is always there is a window open to explore the opportunities to improve our squad with players that can impact it. We haven’t achieved it so we are disappointed in that sense but as well we are very aware that we only want to bring, certain kinds of players and we have to be very disciplined with that, and I think we will”.
He went on to add, “It’s not a gamble. It’s reality. I think we have to face the reality as well that we have. So we’re going to have to evolve there as well and have more and have more players from the academy and the ones that are here to be fitted longer. That’s a job that is permanent, and it keeps evolving, and we need to be on our toes. We’re going to have to be very flexible in the front line, and now the ones that we have and are fit, make sure that they stay fit and they keep contributing”.
