Nigerian singer, John Njeng-Ngeng, popularly known as Skales, has expressed a mixed reaction to the recent death of an Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) officer.

The officer was allegedly killed by some suspected yahoo boys in Anambra state.

In a series of tweets, Skales revealed that while he should feel bad about the incident, he couldn’t help but feel a sense of justification. According to him, the EFCC should have anticipated the backlash given their aggressive operational methods.

Reacting to the death of the officer, Skales also took the opportunity to recount his own traumatic experience with the EFCC. He alleged that the commission’s officers invaded his home unannounced, causing his family significant distress. He claimed that if he had lost his cool during the incident, the officers might have shot him dead and fabricated a story.

The singer stated that the experience was so traumatic that his family was forced to relocate to a hotel, while he slept at a friend’s place for three days. Even after almost a year, Skales’ family still hasn’t forgotten the ordeal.

This is not the first time Skales has spoken out against the EFCC. The two have had a contentious relationship since the alleged home invasion incident.
