Lotus Emeya, Emira launched in India with prices starting from Rs 2.34 crores: Details

Lotus has launched the all-electric Emeya and the Emira coupe in the Indian market. Lotus is now owned by the Chinese brand Geely Automotive Group which also owns other automotive brands such as Volvo, Polestar, Zeekr, Smart, Livan and much more. The vehicles will be available for purchase at Exclusive Motors, situated in the World Trade Centre, South Delhi, marking Lotus’ debut showroom in India.

The Emeya will be offered in three variants in India with prices starting at Rs 2.34 crore. The Emira will also be offered in three variants and priced from Rs 3.22 crore (both prices ex-showroom).

The Lotus Emeya is the second all-electric model from Lotus in India and the company calls it an all-electric four-door GT. In terms of design, the Emeya features a striking design with bold, angular styling elements. At the front, it features a distinctive quad DRL arrangement, with horizontal headlamps positioned lower within the openings on the front bumper. The side profile is clean and understated, highlighted by minimal body lines and pronounced haunches. Its sleek, coupe-inspired roofline gracefully slopes downward from the B-pillar, meeting the end of the boot deck. At the rear, a full-width horizontal tail lamp accentuates the car’s almost squared-off rear end. It also has an active aerodynamic system, Lotus says that the has a drag coefficient of just 0.21 and generates over 150 kg of downforce. Additional features include electronic air suspension and active anti-roll bars. Buyers can also upgrade to lightweight carbon ceramic brakes, enhancing the performance of this four-door GT.

Moving inside, the overall dashboard layout looks the same as the Eletre SUV but here it gets different lighting and materials. Features wise, it gets an octagonal steering wheel, an 8-inch driver’s display, a 15.1-inch central touchscreen, a small screen for co-passenger, an electrochromic glass roof that can switch from opaque to transparent, a 31-litre frunk and a 509-litre boot, 360-degree camera, Level 4-capable, Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS), five massage modes for seats, a 55-inch HUD, a KEF audio system with Uni-Q speakers, a Uni-Core subwoofer and Dolby Atmos 3D surround sound.

Talking about the battery, e-motor and range, all three variants get a 102kWh lithium-ion battery pack and feature an 800V architecture. Using a 350kW DC fast charger, the battery can be charged from 10 to 80 per cent in just 18 minutes. For home charging, a 22kWh AC wall charger requires 5.5 hours for a full recharge. The car offers a WLTP range of 610km for the standard model, 540km for the S version, and 435km for the R variant, provided the default 20-inch wheels are used.

All three come paired with dual motors with AWD as standard. The front and rear motors in the Standard and S variants produce 600hp and 710Nm of torque, enabling a 0-100kph acceleration in 4.2 seconds and a top speed of 250kph. The flagship Emeya R is the most powerful, delivering an impressive 905hp and 985Nm of torque. It accelerates from 0-100kph in just 2.8 seconds and reaches a maximum speed of 256kph.

The Lotus Emira is a sports car and is Lotus’ only ICE-powered model available in India. The Emira is a two-door, small, light-weight sportscar it’s the last pure internal combustion engine model from the brand. The car weighs in at just 1,405kg and is priced from Rs 3.22 crore (ex-showroom). In terms of design, the Emira takes inspiration from the Evija hypercar. It gets vertical LED headlamps with a twin-blade design. It gets sharp sculpted lines all over and it also gets contoured scoops that send air to the engine. The supercar also gets aerodynamically designed 20-inch alloy wheels and Lotus also offers an optional Lotus Drivers Pack, which includes a stiffer suspension setup and Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 tyres.

The Emira gets two engine options – a 365 hp, 2.0-litre, 4-cylinder engine borrowed from Mercedes-AMG and a bigger 3.5-litre, 406hp V6 borrowed from Toyota. The Toyota-sourced powertrain is offered with a manual and automatic transmission, whereas the smaller 2.0-litre gets a DCT gearbox.
Moving inside, the car has a two-seat layout with sporty bucket seats and lots of Alcantara. It features a 12.3-inch digital driver’s display and a 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay/Android Auto, connected car tech and much more. It also gets a flat-bottom steering wheel with a floating centre console and contrast gold inserts. Other features include powered and ventilated seats, an Alcantara headliner, premium audio system by KEF.
