Lagos Seasiders defeated Sunshine Kings 24-21 on Friday in the ongoing second phase of the Ardova Handball Premier League taking place in Lagos.
The two teams came out strong in the opening moments of the close encounter but the Lagos team made better use of the chances that came their way while the Akure side missed glaring scoring chances.
Having rested on Thursday after the walkover victory against Confluence Stars, the Kings were tipped to do better in this game but they failed when it mattered most and paid with the loss to the Lagos team.
In other games played in the men’s category, Benue Buffaloes beat Adamawa Warriors 44-36. The Warriors had lost to Safety Shooters on Thursday and any hope of a decent result in the games faded as the Buffaloes dominated all through. Also, Rima Strikers walk over Confluence Star to get maximum without throwing a ball.
In the women’s category, leaders Safety Babes made it three wins in three games. The leaders defeated Imo Grasshopper 43-24 in a one-sided affair.
Also, Rima Queens beat Delta Queens 31-26, while COAS Babes lost to Defender Babes 35-30 as the leagues continued on Saturday.
